Privacy policy
First Light helps you keep no contact after a breakup. What you write about your relationship is personal, so the rule is simple: it stays on your phone unless you use a feature that needs our server, and then we keep only what that feature needs.
Stored only on your phone
- Your counter, pledges, daily check-ins, reasons list, unsent drafts and journal.
- Your onboarding answers, including your ex's name and your story.
Uninstalling the app deletes this data. We cannot see or recover it.
Sent to our server when you use the AI coach
- A random account id created on your phone (no email or name is needed).
- Each message you write to the coach and the coach's reply, kept so the coach can follow the conversation and so a resent message is not charged twice.
- With each message, the context the coach needs: your ex's name or nickname, how long you were together, who ended it, your story text, your current day count, up to seven recent check-ins, and your onboarding answers (how days feel, when the pull is strongest, what pulls you back, your goals), and up to three journal entries you chose to share with the coach. This context is used to write the reply and is not stored separately.
- When you ask for a written reality check in the panic room: what is pulling you, your answers to the reality check questions, and up to five of your reasons, used the same way.
- If you report an AI reply: a copy of that reply, the reason you picked and your optional note, so we can review it.
- Token counts and cost of each reply, to enforce the free allowance and watch our spending.
Only if you sign in with Google or Apple
- Your Google or Apple account's email (with Apple, the private relay address if you chose to hide your email) and an account id, so you can sign in again on another phone. We ask Google and Apple for nothing else.
- A copy of your backup (the same file as "Export my data": your counter, check-ins, reasons, unsent drafts, journal and written vault notes), so you can restore it after signing in. Photos and voice notes from the evidence vault stay on your phone and are never uploaded. Signing out keeps the copy; "Delete everything" in the app deletes it with your account.
Who processes it
- Anthropic generates coach replies and screens messages for signs of crisis. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API data is not used to train models.
- Our server (a database and API we run on a rented server at OVHcloud in the EU) stores coach messages and usage.
- RevenueCat, Google Play and the App Store handle subscriptions. We receive whether you are subscribed and until when, never your payment details.
Safety
If a message suggests you may be in danger, the coach replies with a fixed message pointing you to a helpline or emergency services. The message is marked in our database so we can check this feature works; no one is notified. The coach is not a therapist or an emergency service.
What we never do
- No advertising, no ad trackers, no selling or sharing data for marketing.
- We never contact your ex or anyone else.
Your choices
- Delete your account and all server data at any time: Me → Delete everything, or see how to delete your account.
- Ask what we hold about you, or anything else, by email at support@ysylabs.com.
The app is for adults (18+).
